Change the Story offers KS2 resources and hands-on support for teaching about the climate crisis, citizenship and digital competence.
Stories are an effective way to understand and make sense of the world around us. But are the stories young people hear about the climate crisis empowering? Do they have better stories? Can they change the story?
Through Change the Story, pupils will explore evidence of how humans have affected the climate, how some people are acting now to address it, and will produce their own stories about how they would like the climate crisis to be tackled from now into the future.
“I enjoyed learning about how global warming is affecting
the world. Global warming is a blanket around the earth
melting ice caps and warming the earth”
– Year 4/5 pupil.
“Very fun learning about the
future...we made sculptures
about what lives in a town and
how it can be suitable for climate
Year 4/5 pupil.
“I most enjoyed planning and getting smarter! And getting
the story ready and having visitors! I love stories!”
– Year 6 pupil
“We had done climate change before, but this definitely
angled it more positively ... Much more about being
change-makers, changing things, where do we want to
be, how we will change things. It changed how I would
approach it ... this was not so much ‘we are pretending to
be change-makers’, it was more real than that”
